Location

Description
"In early 14th century England, Sir William of Wykeham began a tradition to assist wayfarers on holy pilgrimages. Travelers would go to the Hospital of St. Cross in Winchester for a free ration, or “dole”, of bread and ale. This became known as the “Pilgrim’s Dole”. Our Pilgrim’s Dole is a wheatwine style ale, a distinctive cousin of the barleywine style. Made with fifty percent wheat malt, it is slightly sweet with hints of raisins and apples. Because we take pilgrimages of all kinds very seriously, Pilgrim’s Dole has more malt per barrel than any other beer we make."
